I still don’t quite believe it, but as of this morning, my ​novel is officially live and available everywhere books are sold​. Get your copy of Hello My Name is Sharkbait now!

Twenty-two years ago, this story began with a ​​dream to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. Seven years ago, I set out on a journey from Georgia, chronicling my adventures from shelters, summits, and trail towns​ on my way to Maine. Today, that journey officially​ translates to a novel for all ages and adventure-seekers, and seeing it out in the world feels​ both humbling and deeply rewarding.

Book Announcement: Memoir Arriving Soon!

Five months. Five million steps. An odyssey of grit.

Hello friends! After 2+ years navigating the intense world of publishing, I am incredibly excited to share that my adventure novel and memoir is arriving soon! In 2018, you all followed me as I set out to fulfill my dream on the Appalachian Trail. The decades of planning, months of coordinating, and day upon day of walking … you all encouraged me onward. To keep hiking, to keep sharing, to keep exploring this itch of writing. It took a bit longer than expected, but the culmination of all those adventures is finally here. And I may be biased … but I think you’re gonna love it.

As I prepare for launch, I’ll share more about my journey of writing, editing, and publishing. The amount of content, opinion, strategy, and style to put one’s thoughts on paper is INCREDIBLY complex. You can do it for free in a day with ChatGPT and Amazon, of you can spend $50,000 over five years and still not be successful. And let’s get one thing out of the way up front, no … and I mean NO … generative artificial intelligence (AI) was used in crafting my manuscript. Yes you’ll see some em dashes, but every word and graphic was written, edited, formatted, and finalized by human hands and eyes. I’m very proud that this story is my own and not that of our future robot overlords.

Follow along over the next few weeks as I sprinkle more details on the launch and my publishing journey. My first taste of writing with Platinum Blazing was just a warmup, but this one … this is the NYC Marathon. It’s not a how-to, not a self-help, and not a re-print of 150 daily blog entries. What you’ll soon see is an adventure story written as narrative nonfiction … meaning, it’s a true story, but written in novel form. Stay tuned, and get excited. Because this Christmas, you won’t be disappointed.
